Welcome to Heard it From the Hurst’s | Blog
If you’ve spent time with us, you know Truett Hurst has never really been just about the wine. It’s about the people who walk through the door, the conversations that happen over a tasting flight, and the way a single bottle can slow the moment down. Welcome to the Truett Hurst winery blog, where we share the stories, people, and moments that shape life at our Healdsburg winery.
As we’ve settled into our new home in Healdsburg, it felt like the right time to share more of what happens here. This blog is a place for that. And more!
Our Healdsburg Tasting Room
After a season of change, our tasting room has found its new home at 428 Hudson Street in Healdsburg, California.
The space is relaxed and welcoming. It’s meant for unhurried tastings and real connection. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or coming back as a familiar face, we hope it feels like a place where you can take your time and feel at ease.
If you’ve visited us before, you’ll recognize a familiar sight here too; the red Adirondack chairs. They’ve long been part of Truett Hurst’s story, a quiet invitation to sit back, stay awhile, and enjoy the wine. You may have even spotted the giant red Adirondack chair in the roundabout as you enter Healdsburg, a small nod to the town we call home. Even as things around us have changed, we’ve carried forward what matters most.
Being here has also allowed us to gather again. From wine club pickups with barbequed tri-tip, to seasonal events in the tasting barn, creating space for community has been one of the most meaningful parts of this chapter.
A Family-Owned, Family-Run Winery
Clay Hurst manages the tasting room and is often the first face guests see when they arrive. Natalie Hurst oversees wine club and direct-to-consumer operations, with her brother, Rex, helping bring events and marketing to life. Karina Lochner, Natalie’s best friend, works alongside her as assistant wine club and inventory manager, and Alex, one of the tasting room hosts, has been part of the Truett Hurst story for years and is also a longtime friend of the family. Behind the scenes is Ross, our winemaker, who has been crafting the wines at both Truett Hurst and VML for more than a decade – his first day on the job was also Clay’s first day working in the wine industry, a connection that still feels fitting. The winery is owned by Phil and Sylvia Hurst, Clay’s parents, who in early 2024, with the help of longtime partner Ken Wilson, brought the winery back into the family after a period of being publicly traded, marking a return to what has always mattered most here: staying hands-on, thinking long-term, and caring deeply for the place, the people, and the wines.

Why We’re Sharing This Now
Winemaking is slow, intentional work. Building community is too. A lot of what makes this place special happens quietly, long before a bottle reaches your table. Sharing those moments here feels like a natural extension of how we already do things.
We believe wine is better when you know the story behind it. This is where we’ll keep telling ours.
Looking Ahead
Whether you’ve been part of the Truett Hurst community for years or you’re just discovering us, we’re glad you’re here. There’s a lot ahead; new wines, new gatherings, and new ways to connect. We’re looking forward to sharing it with you.
Cheers,
Natalie Hurst
